At Arlington Acres, we’ve had the honor of hosting so many love stories, but this one is extra special. Samantha and Nicolas became our 100th couple to say “I do” on our farm, and their wedding was nothing short of magical. From their deeply personal vows to their heartfelt appreciation for every detail, this celebration embodied everything we love about weddings at Arlington Acres.

A Love Story That Spans Miles

Samantha and Nicolas’ journey began nearly eight years ago in downtown Sandusky, Ohio. Introduced by mutual friends while Nicolas was home on leave from the Army, they quickly connected. Though they were living in different states—Nicolas in North Carolina and Samantha in Ohio—they built a relationship through late-night calls, weekend visits, and unwavering commitment.

“When Nicolas got out of the military, he moved to Bowling Green, and we’ve been together ever since,” Samantha shared. Their love story is proof that distance only makes the heart grow fonder.

A Proposal Worth the Wait

Their engagement story? Straight out of a rom-com! While vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Nicolas convinced Samantha to take an early morning walk on the beach. Sleepy, barefoot, and complaining about the cold sand, she had no idea what was about to happen.

“I turned around to take pictures of the sunrise, and when I looked back, Nick was on one knee with a ring in the heart I had just drawn in the sand,” Samantha recalled. Overcome with nerves, Nicolas simply blurted out, “Well?” After a little prompting to actually pop the question, she, of course, said “Yes!”

Why They Chose Arlington Acres

Out of six venues they toured, Arlington Acres stood out immediately.

“It was the first venue we saw, and we couldn’t help but compare everything else to it. The combination of the stunning property, unmatched rain plan, and Sarah’s incredible support made our decision easy,” Samantha said.

With its modern rustic charm, ample space, and a team dedicated to bringing their vision to life, Arlington Acres was the perfect setting for their dream wedding.

A Day Filled with Meaning and Memories

Samantha and Nicolas’ wedding was a true reflection of their love: intimate, joyous, and full of intentional details. Their private vow exchange was the most anticipated moment of the day, allowing them to fully soak in the significance of their commitment before celebrating with loved ones.

And let’s not forget about the sweets!

“We were so excited for Ideal Bakery’s donuts and cake!” Samantha laughed.

They also made sure their wedding was full of personal touches—including creative ways to include their beloved dog, who couldn’t be there in person but was featured on stickers, signage, and even a custom cake topper.

Their Experience at Arlington Acres

Samantha and Nicolas couldn’t say enough great things about working with Arlington Acres and the Bolte family.

“The Bolte's, who own and operate Arlington Acres, are phenomenal to work with. We can’t say enough good about our experience. Not only is their venue STUNNING, but it boasts an exceptional rain plan that allows you to leave your reception space untouched and still have plenty of room for guests to mingle for cocktail hour,” Samantha shared.

She continued, “Arlington Acres has two beautiful suites for the bridal party to get ready in, two equally gorgeous areas to host reception events, and a naturally beautiful outdoor ceremony space. Not to mention, there are so many great locations for photos that your photographer will love! Arlington Acres provides monthly open houses for booked couples so that you can do walkthroughs with family, friends, and vendors, test decor, practice walkthroughs, ask questions, and even do photo sessions. Sarah even went as far as to help us schedule a private time to do our engagement shoot on their property.”

The couple also found most of their vendors through Arlington Acres’ recommendations, making the planning process even smoother.

“If you’re questioning booking with Arlington Acres, just do it. You won’t regret it and you’ll love working with Sarah! If we had to do it over again, we would without a doubt still choose Arlington Acres!”

Advice for Future Couples

For couples in the midst of wedding planning, Samantha and Nicolas have some golden advice:

“Don’t wait to plan! It feels great to be ahead of the game so that when unexpected things come up, you have time to pivot. And ask questions! Your vendors are there to help and have so much experience—listen to them.”
