There are so many reasons that Katelyn and Brett's fall wedding will forever remain in our hearts, from faith filled worship during the wedding ceremony to the acoustic set during their first dance, we’re so thrilled to share with you Katelyn and Brett’s classy fall wedding. Classic fall colors in soft sages and pops of orange and a bride tribe donning all sage satin gowns come together to create an aesthetic that is classy and elegant...and we love every bit of it.

Katelyn actually booked their date prior to getting engaged! She was living in Texas at the time and did a virtual tour with us, shortly after her tour she booked their date, October 22... just 3 months from when she booked!

How They Met

Brett and Katelyn  met through mutual friends. They are both from Ohio, but Katelyn was living in Texas when she met a couple from Singapore (who Brett previously had met years ago in Australia). Shortly after meeting this couple, they asked if Katelyn was single and suggested she meet their friend Brett, who just so happened to live in Columbus, OH. Katelyn was flying home the following weekend and met up the following weekend in Bowling Green! The rest is history....

The Proposal

I was sure Brett would propose somewhere in Columbus on a weekend I was visiting him, but he chose to propose in Texas! We went to Magnolia in Waco for the day. I was sure he wouldn't propose then... it was one of the hottest days of the summer and we were miserable outside. But later that evening we headed back to Dallas and went to White Rock Lake. I was pulling into the park and Brett was adamant I should park over to the side near this little dock. It seemed more secluded and I told him that's not where most people park, the main lot is this way! But he said he wanted to check out the dock (he really just wanted our own space and not have people around). So I parked over by the dock and we walked out and were looking at the water. I felt him take a step back and when I turned around, he was on one knee and asked me to marry him!” - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

The Classy Fall Wedding Details

Katelyn kept her wedding decor and details simple, but classy and elegant. Katelyn used a mix of faux florals and real florals and greenery to create an elevated look while also maintaining a budget. She tied ribbons on the sides of the chairs going down the aisle and then accented our rustic wooden cross with greenery mixed with baby's breath.

After the ceremony guests descended our grand staircase into the white pavilion where they were greeted by a mirror seating chart and hugged by the warmth of the heaters!

Rather than go with the traditional cake, Katelyn opted for a pie bar.

"I never wanted cake at my wedding, but I've always loved the idea of a variety of homemade pies! So we had BBQ and pies and they were delicious." - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

The Faith Filled Ceremony

Katelyn originally had hoped to have an outdoor fall wedding ceremony, but the weather just didn't cooperate due to the wind that day. Instead she and Brett opted to move the ceremony inside the historic barn and we are so glad they did!

During their wedding ceremony they had the most beautiful worship time where all the guests participated. We have seen many wedding ceremonies here at Arlington Acres and their's was by far one of the most memorable, we had goosebumps!

"I wanted my brother to marry us and music has always been a big part of my life. Brett and I wanted a time of worship and it was so special to have my uncle and my two good friends from Texas sing for our ceremony. We had a cellist and a violinist accompany them and it was so beautiful. We ended up having our ceremony in the barn which was stunning!

We said our own vows and our day was just filled with all our dearest friends and family! We had a lot of people travel or fly in for the day and it was just so humbling that they wanted to be there and celebrate God's faithfulness in our lives with us. The whole day really just felt like a gift from God and we just want the Lord to be acknowledged because he's who brought Brett and I together." - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

Favorite Moment of the Day

"I would say my favorite moment was singing "The Goodness of God" during our ceremony while looking at the cross and holding Brett's hand. It was just a moment of reflection for all He's brought us through and thankfulness for what He led us to." - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

Planning a Wedding in 3 months!

"Looking back, I am amazed that I planned a wedding in such a short amount of time.... we had a 3 month engagement! But I have always been sure of what I wanted. I didn't want anything over the top, but I wanted it to be beautiful, elegant, and just something that represented us well. I had to make decisions pretty quickly so I made sure to hit the big to-do's first like the photographer, caterer, etc.

Also on the wedding day, I had the BEST set up crew! My aunts and uncles understood the vision and made it come to life! It was so beautiful and we had fun setting up!" - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

Why they Chose Arlington Acres

"We knew we would get married in Ohio since that's where all our family lives. We knew we didn't want a long engagement and in my heart, I was preparing myself for a move back to Ohio. We wanted something that could accommodate all our family. I wanted an outdoor ceremony and since I was a little girl... I wanted a barn reception!

I googled outdoor wedding venues in Ohio and the first one to pop up was Arlington Acres. I looked through the website thinking it was perfect! It was meant to be." - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

Advice to Future Couples

"Don't sweat the small stuff! In the end, those things don't matter. Just enjoy the process and invite people into it. Family and friends love to be apart and they're wisdom, tips, and tricks are so helpful!" - Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio

Kind Words

“I loved my wedding at Arlington Acres! Sarah was so great to work with. The venue has elegance and charm and accommodated everyone comfortably! I loved the bridal suite that was so spacious and loved having the ceremony and reception all in one place. The farm is so dreamy and the day was just so effortless!”- Katelyn, AA Bride from Bowling Green, Ohio
